This band “King Crimson” was formed by superb drummer Michael Giles and brilliant guitarist Robert Fripp. In fact the band was formed in the year 1969 when several rock bands were at their helm. So it was a very tough task for them to discard the influence of the prevailing rock bands and this is the reason why they have chosen a quirky style which was not heard before.

This band “King Crimson” was inspired by several musical genres that ranged from classical to contemporary rock. This band released their debut album in the year 1969 under the title of “In the Court of the Crimson King”. With the very release of this debut album they came to forefront of discussion and controversies as well. Their first album was besmeared with controversies due to their unconventional rock music that had not been experienced by the music industry before. This album clutched 28th position in the chart of United States and in United Kingdom this album clutched 3rd position.

Galvanized by the success of their debut album, the members of this band “King Crimson” began to further their experiment in various sphere of musical industry. This experiment helped them to retain their prominent position in this brutally competitive music industry. In its long musical career, this band has witnessed many break ups and reunions. The current members of this band are Robert Fripp, Gavin Harrison, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto and Adrian Belew. All these members are brilliant in their specific fields. Only stable member of this band is Robert Fripp but he does not consider himself as the leader of this band. Though this band has undergone some break ups in the early stage of its musical career, it does not loose its previous charm and passion.

This band released their second album in the year 1970 under the title “In the Wake of Poseidon”. The songs of this album were very much similar to the songs of the previous album. But despite of this similarity, this album grabbed a top-notch position in the market. Several copies of this album were sold within a few days after the release of this album. Their next album was “Lizard” which was released in the same year. In this album one can notice the influence of classical and jazz music. After getting a favorable response, this band started touring in several places and this helped them to consolidate their position in this highly competitive market.

This band “King Crimson” is famous for their nonpareil theme. They have incorporated an instrumental section in their songs and this is obviously a novel idea. Juxtaposition of unique melody and discordant music is one of the unique features of this band.
