Kelly Clarkson (b. April 24, 1982) has continued to establish herself as one of the top new female artists of the future. She grew up in the suburbs of Fort Worth, learning the difficult road of financial hardship as it was a driving force breaking up her parents. Her mother would later remarry and Kelly’s talent would be discovered in the halls of Pauline G. Hughes Middle School.

A teacher heard her singing in the hall one day and asked if she would tryout for the talent show. Clarkson took her vocal talents to the high school stage in musical s like Annie Get Your Gun, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Brigadoon. Kelly decided while in school that she wanted to pursue a music career.
She shunned full scholar ships to the University of Texas, the University of North Texas, and Berklee to take her shot at recording. Kelly became a household name after the first season of American Idol in 2002. Clarkson ended up winning the inaugural season of what would become one of the most popular television shows today.
The victory would be both a gift and a curse. Clarkson rocketed to the top of the popular charts with her first album, Thankful, which also went double platinum. Kelly also had to shed her Idol image though. After winning the American version of the show, she was required to compete in the World version due to contractual obligation. She also starred in ill-fated movie with Idol runner-up Justin Guarini. Both incidents cornered her into the pop corner.
Critics gave generally favorable reviews to her first album, praising her vocal skill, but many mentioned that the album did not deliver the pop, girl next store persona that she had exhibited on American Idol. Kelly Clarkson’s reaction was to release a more pop-rock second album, Breakaway, featuring the single “Since U Been Gone”.
The new direction yielded five Top-10 singles, two Grammy Awards, and a six-time platinum certification. Clarkson toured extensively to push her new image and critics praised her change in direction.
Kelly began writing for her third album while she was touring Europe in 2006. She even debuted two of her new songs while on the Addicted Tour. She entered the studios that summer to begin recording her next album, My December.
Clarkson and her management, The Firm, parted in June in 2007 after several incidents which saw the postponement of a single fro the new album. The internal problems were exasperated by the external problems, a lack of ticket sales. Live Nation cancelled Kelly’s first nationwide summer tour in 2007.
She signed with McEntire’s management company, Startstruck Entertainment and reinstated a smaller tour in the fall of 2007. Beginning in Verona, NY on October 10 the My December Tour finally got started. The album reached platinum status in December 2007.
Kelly Clarkson is busy working on an album for the release in the last quarter of 2008, but is also touring at times with Reba McEntire. The two were one of the most popular concert tours in the beginning of the year with the 15-date 2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour, and have announced that they will be doing a second leg of the tour starting on September 25 in Winnipeg and ending in Baltimore on November 22.
The 2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour will surely get more attention this next time around, so be sure to get your tickets early with Kelly Clarkson tickets from the Ticket Specialists.
