About Keith Sweat

Keith Sweat was born Keith Crier in 1961 in Harlem, New York. His musical career began as a member of the Harlem-based band Jamilah. Keith Sweat soon parted ways with the band but not before he was able to perfect his technique as a powerful lead singer. While working on the stock market by day, Keith Sweat worked on his music during the night and sure enough, he was able to land a recording contract. In 1987 Keith Sweat released his debut album called 'Make it Last Forever', which went on to sell over three million copies. The most important thing about this album was the single 'I want her'. Not only was the song a number one R&B hit, it also officially paved the way for the entry of New Jack Swing onto the music scene.

Keith Sweat went on to prove that he was no one album wonder- he kept releasing a steady stream of solid albums throughout the nineties and pumped out more hit singles such as 'Twisted', 'Nobody', and 'Just a Touch'. He was also working on other musical projects as well. In the nineties, Keith Sweat discovered two R&B groups, Silk and Kut Klose. Both went on to release debut albums which spawned a number of hit singles. Keith Sweat also formed an amazing supergroup with singers Johnny Gill and Gerald Levert called LSG- this group also released an album which spawned a huge hit single 'My Body'.

Keith Sweat is one of the few artists whose career has remained strong and steady over the past 14 years. He won the American Music Award for favorite Soul/ R&B artist in 1997. He has proved time and again that his music is about quality and rather than reinvent himself with each album, Keith Sweat has just gotten better and better at what he does best. Over the years he has worked with artists such as LL Cool J, Dru Hill, Missy Elliot, Faith Evans, Busta Rhymes, Jermaine Dupri, L'il Kim and Snoop Dogg.
