Kathy & Carol’s members met in 1996. The lead singer was influenced by his mother's love of music. Kathy & Carol started playing at the local club Chamber. The band used to sell their CDs out of their car in the school parking lot.

Kathy & Carol first garnered some national attention with their first single. Kathy & Carol talked to a program director from B94.9 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Kathy & Carol was signed.
