The single and Kaiser Chiefs' pogo-suggesting, boot-clump live shows had them hooked as promising celebrities in the neo-new upsurge revolution with Franz Ferdinand, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, and the Futureheads. When Kaiser Chiefs' opening 7" “Oh My God" reached No. 66 on the U.K. charts -- a stunning feat for an unsigned band -- doors unbolted for the outfit to divide the stage with larger acts, thus capturing the notice of A&R scouts who desired to sign the band. “I Predict a Riot", meanwhile, stunned U.S. modern-rock radio programmers who saw in it a flourishing new wave reinforcement.
In the absence of an American label deal, Kaiser Chiefs (called after the South African football team) forcefully made their presence felt in a number of the biggest U.S. optional stations with the “I Predict a Riot" significant single in late 2004. In the very year they recorded their initial album Employment for the U.K. label B-Unique. The album was made available to the public nationally in the U.S. in spring 2005..
The Kaiser Chiefs are an English Indie/Pop band hailing from Leeds, came into being early in 1997 under the name Parva. After renaming themselves as the Kaiser Chiefs in 2003 the band made a big impression on the British music scene, ending in collecting three Brit Awards for 'Best Group', 'Best British Rock Act' and 'Best Live Act' in 2006.
Before 2003 the members of the outfit were a garage rock group called Parva. However, in the aftermath of being dumped by their label, the band returned to their origins and embraced a more Britpop sound, assisting the band achieve their present fame within the UK and further. Ricky Wilson's first outfit was in reality called the LadderCoins, which he created as a funk band at the age of 16.The band also included James Wood (Bass), Anthony Dean (Drums), James Pepper (Lead Guitar) and Jake Wood (Piano/Key Board).
A number of members of the band are enthusiastic fans of the English football team Leeds United. The group was christened after the Sout African Kaiser Chiefs Football Club, the previous team of long-serving ex Leeds captain Lucas Radebe.
Their opening single, On My God was released on Drowned in sound Records in May 2004. It was exhausted inside three days of going on release and placed at #66 on UK Singles Charts.
A fresh recording of 'Oh My God' was released on 21 February, which was placed at #6. The opening album Employment was released on & March 2005 and went to charts at #3 that week.
