She had released her debut album in 1998 named Aqui. She had been helped with Gustavo Sanataolalla in the compilation of this album. She had shot to fame following the success of this album. She had toured across the country. She was a known face in the music industry and earned an identity of her own. That same year she also bagged the award for the Best Solo Artist and the Artist of The Year in the MTV Video Music Awards in Latin America. In 2006, she was presented with the Best Solo Artist Award in MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. She got her second Latin Grammy Award in 2006 for Limon Y Sal under the category of Best Alternative Music Album. Last year she was honoured with the Grammy Awards for the Best Latin Pop Album for Limon Y Sal. MTV Video Music Awards Latin America also presented her with the Best Latin Pop Album for the same album.
