About Hot Chip
The band was formally formed in 2000, however Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard have long known and worked with each other. They even where in the same sixth form at Elliott in Putney, London. Initially the band used to release independent albums and it was with Moshi Moshi in 2003 that they signed their first album. The result was the release of their debut LP “Coming on Strong” in 2004. This was just the beginning for the band and soon after this they started working on their second album. Their talent and success bagged them a US record deal with the DFA Records. The result was the re-releasing of their debut album in late 2005 in the US.
The second coming from their den took a while and finally in 2006, the Hot Chip released their second album “The Warning”. With the second album, the band was a major success in UK earning appreciation from both fans and critics alike. Even boosting their morale, the band was soon signed to EMI in the UK. Their second album was even nominated for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize, besides the Mixmag's Album of the Year 2006. Also, the album garnered two UK top forty singles.
On February 4, 2008 The Hot Chip released their third studio album, “Made in the Dark.” The first track that was released out of the album was "Shake a Fist" and was released as a limited one-sided 12" in September 2007. The first proper single was "Ready For The Floor" in January 2008, which reached number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. The band is also known for its DJ talent. The present members of the band are Alexis Taylor (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, piano), Joe Goddard (vocals, synthesizer, percussion), Owen Clarke (guitar, synthesizer) and Al Doyle (guitar, synthesizer, percussion).
In January 2008, they made an appearances on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, in order to promote "Ready For The Floor".
