HorrorPops is a Danish psychobilly band formed by Patricia Day and Kim Nekroman in 1996. The band has its origins in new wave, punk rock, bubblegum pop, surf rock, and rockabilly. Patricia Day and Kim Nekroma first met at a festival in Cologne, Germany in 1996. This was the inauguration of Day's punk rock group Peanut Pump Gun and Nekroman's psychobilly band, Nekromantix. Meeting there both discovered their common interest for alternative music and finally planned to marry.

Day and Nekroman wanted to form a band where they could try out some different genres, outside of their normal bands. And both of them started by switching instruments. And in the process learnt something new from each other. Nekroman taught Day how to play an upright bass, while she taught him how to play the guitar. Later the two started searching for a drummer, with Nekromantix guitarist Peter Sandorff even being a possible option. They finally selected Niedermeier to drum, a colleague of Day's and also a member of the band Strawberry Slaughterhouse. And once the trio was accomplished, they officially started HorrorPops in 1998. After traveling for a while as a trio, the band also added Niedermeier's old band mate, Caz the Clash, as a second guitarist.
In 2000 the band members increased from three to five, Day recruited two friends, Mille and Kamilla. In the same year the band also recorded 7 demo songs for use in a press kit. These songs were somehow leaked and the public got an access to them. This resulted in two of the group's singles becoming club hits in Denmark. The group kept on touring Europe till the next few years. And then in 2003 they started recording 6 more demo tracks. During this time, Caz the Clash left the band to focus on their personal lives. Immediately he was substituted by another Strawberry Slaughterhouse member, Karsten., Tim Armstrong's was impressed by the bands demos and he decided to sign them to sing for his label, Hellcat Records. The band released a vinyl single in September 2003, and started a U.S. headlining tour.
They released their debut full-length album, Hell Yeah! in February 2004. The same year the band performed several times in Europe. During this time Mille left the band and was replaced with Naomi. Subsequently the band moved from Denmark to Los Angeles, California, resulting in Karsten leaving the band to remain in Denmark with his wife. He was also soon replaced with Kamilla's husband, Geoff Kresge, who had recently departed from the psychobilly band Tiger Army. The band's second album, Bring It On!, was released on September 13, 2005.
