If foThe post-hardcore band, Hawthorne Heights was formed in Dayton, Ohio in June 2001. The band was before known as A Day in the Life, but as the lineup changed their name also changed. They sprang up onto the scene with 2004's The Silence in Black and White, which was a debut with Victory Records. Incorporated with the single "Ohio is For Lovers", the album went on to sell over 800,000 copies without virtually any radio play. On July 18, 2006 it was declared that they would be a part of the annual Nintendo Fusion Tour along accompanying Relient K, Emery, The Plain White Ts and fresh from their spot on the Victory Records tour, The Sleeping.

Their second album If Only You Were Lonely ranked at number 3 on the charts, and sold 100,000 copies in the first week The success was credited to lead single "Saying Sorry" which has had massive airplay on MTV, VH1 and Fuse. On August 7, 2006, the band claimed they would be leaving Victory Records. Due to the band's departure with Victory, the Nintendo Fusion Tour has taken a particular implication as the band sets about to get signed onto a new label.
They were largely influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Quicksand, Nirvana and Shades Apart. Hawthorne Heights's style of beaming and igneous post-hardcore is grand and more centered than the efforts of other bands they will be classified with. Their triple guitar approach alone sets them isolated from the rest. With JT and Micah playing guitar, they add a lot of molding effects and elaborations to the music along with licitly pulling in various musical styles.
Their permeating crossbreed of discordance and tonal pattern with croaky growls and layered, melodious-sounding vocals brings fresh and imaginative deepness to "The Silence In Black And White". Hawthorne Heights will be traveling all summer long and will be seen on selected dates of this summer's Warped Tour.
Recently in March of 2006, Victory Records brought out two statements to fans by the band's mailing lists as well as their MySpace page, saying that "ROCK music requires your support" and that "the #1 slot that belongs to us". They also requested fans to go into chain stores and make sure Hawthorne Heights CDs are in stock and to undermine Ne-Yo's sales
Afterwards, the band members claimed that the statements emerged from their record label, Victory Records, without their acceptance of it. In October 2006, a Chicago judge discharged two of the three chief claims in the band's suit, finding that the trademark and copyright assault allegations were fallacious.
