Halo Stereo began playing at Folks, a college dive bar. The group used to sell their records out of their van in the school parking lot. Halo Stereo’s members grew up together. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in middle school.

Generally, critics commend Halo Stereo for their ability to rile up the audience at concerts. Jacksonville music critic Kevin Scheutz has always been a fan of group’s back to basics sound. Halo Stereo’s newest album has received generally positive reviews from all the critics, including Bobby Treadaway from Sacramento and Brian Yeubanks from Detroit.
After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Halo Stereo was signed to a record deal. The groupspent years before being signed as an opening act. Halo Stereo were still a little worried after they released their first recording, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started.
The band has always had a good time in Seattle so they make sure to play there every year, even if they are not promoting anything. Halo Stereo seamlessly blends the songs from the older album with tracks from their latest album.
