Fito Paez began playing together while they were in college. The bassist used to fall asleep with a cassette tapeplaying as a teenager. The drummer used to fall asleep with the radioplaying as a kid. Fito Paez started performing at the local dive bar Fighter. The group was influenced by music of the '50s.

The most current project from Fito Paez has been heavily influenced by bands of the '60s. The group just completed their new album, and they are thinking of what is to come next. Fito Paez are expecting to bring in another audience with this tour and the new record.
Fito Paez were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their first recording convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started. Fito Paez was discovered after single was played on X91.1. The members of the band all quit their other jobs to focus on their music.
Fito Paez knew that they were truly working musicians in 1976, after Lizzie Boughton started the group’s first fan club. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Louisville, but the creation the band’s website by Deb Gitlewski, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
