Finch’s members met in 1995. The band used to sell their tapes out of their truck at school. Finch began performing at Lulu's, a local club. The lead singer used to annoy his sister by playing his favorite CD at all hours of the night.

got Q98.9 to start playing their single and had their friends call in to request the song. A record executive heard it one day and immediately signed the group. The group took any show they could get before they were signed. Finch always wanted to hear themselves at the top of the charts and they got their wish with the release of their first single.
Finch knew they made it when Susan Oswalt started the first fan club for the band in 1999. The fan club may have just started out with a few members that followed the band when the played in small clubs, but it quickly grew to thousands after the group released its first album and started touring nationally.
After this past non-stop year the members of Finch will spend some time apart. The band recently finished their most current record, and they are thinking of what is next to come. The latest release from Finch has taken the band in a brand new direction, with a softer edge.
