About Dru Hill

The history of Dru Hill began in middle school where the original members, Tamir Nokio Ruffin, Mark Sisquo Andrews and James Woody Green got together to pursue singing careers. They soon added Larry Jazz Anthony to their line up and the quartet began to work their way up, getting jobs in a local fudge factory and singing while they made fudge. Their big break came in 1996 and that same year, the quartet released their first album Dru Hill which went on to get a gold certification and their first single 'Tell Me' hit the R&B top five and was featured in the movie Eddie.

Controversy soon followed- Dru Hill were considered less gentlemanly that Boyz II Men and more polished than Jodeci but Jodeci members claimed that Dru Hill were ripping of their style. But the future was already being made- Sisquo in particular was making waves with his singing style, his blonde hair and his dance moves. By their third album, Sisquo was the man to watch and the others were relegated more and more into the background. This was best seen in the video for Will Smith's 'Wild Wild West' song which mainly featured Sisquo. The members began working on solo projects and Sisquo again came out on top with this single ' The Thong Song'.

After some time apart the group decided to get back together again but tensions were high. After some flared tempers were allowed to cool, Dru Hill seriously came together and thought best on how to move forward. With a new member in tow, Rufus Ruscola Waller, the quintet was ready to take the music world on again.
