D.i. started playing at Item, a college club. The guitarist used to annoy his grandmother by playing his favorite CD nonstop. The drummer use to listen to tapes constantly as a child. D.i.’s members met in grade school. The band was influenced by Hank Williams.

After this past non-stop year the members of D.i. will spend some time apart. The group may have recently finished their newest record, but they are already thinking of their next move. D.i.'s latest release is the band's first since the group members went to work on independent projects eight years ago.
Generally, critics commend D.i. for their ability to energize the crowd at live shows. Jeremy Vanderhoff, a music critic from Champaign, has always been impressed with group’s accessible lyrics. D.i.’s newest release has received excellent praise from all the critics, including Abrahams Lamango from Oklahoma City and Nathan Dunn from Baltimore.
A member of D.i. started dating a girl whose grandfatherwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. D.i.’s first album was a dud, but the second finally got some attention.
D.i. realizes that most fans like their past songs, so they use material from older projects and the most current album.
