David Gilmour, the well known guitarist and an active member of the hugely popular band Pink Floyd was born on 6th March 1946, in Cambridge. David is best known and famous as vocalist, guitarist and writer with Pink Floyd. David is also well renowned for his superb solo work and collaborations with many famous artists including Paul McCartney, Kate Bush and Pete Townshend. In 1965, David formed his own band "Jokers Wild" with his other friends including Roger 'Syd', Roger Waters, Rick Wright, and Nick Mason; but after some time the other members of the band formed Pink Floyd except David; and he continued his musical journey with "Jokers Wild." Subsequently, he toured Europe with Flowers and later on with Bullitt. In 1967, David was heartily invited to join the band. David's guitar playing skills and superb song writing became one of the major factors in the world-wide success of Pink Floyd, during the 70s'. Including his guitar playing on "Dark Side of the Moon" and distinctive vocals. "Dark Side of the Moon" has been declared as the third most successful and well accepted album of all time. David has a huge and ardent fan base around the globe; one can see a huge demand for tickets whenever he performs live.

In 1978, David released his first self titled solo album; this album was considered as a side project of David. This album was very well received by the music lovers and charted in the famous musical charts in the US and UK. In 1984, David released his second solo album "About Face" and this musical bonanza ended up hitting the Top 20 in the UK. In 1985, David took the full control of "Pink Floyd" after the departure of Roger Waters. Then, Pink Floyd released their next album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" with Rick Wright and Nick Mason; followed by "The Division Bell," in 1994. Both albums were rated as number one on both sides of the Atlantic. Then followed other albums of the band "Pulse" in 1995.Midest of these releases, the band toured the US and Europe. Recently, David announced his tour in spring, 2006. This will be his first European tour since 1994; at that time he toured with Pink Floyd. This hugely anticipated tour has already caused a stir among the crowd and a tremendous demand for tickets is expected; you can be there but first get your tickets from your on-line ticket vendor and avoid the huge rush for tickets.
