After the single hit the airwaves and blew up, Daft Punk were still afraid they’d be a one hit wonder. Daft Punk met with a local DJ from X99.5 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the group.
Daft Punk accepted that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a real possibility in 1976, after the band's first fan club was started by Kathleen Harkenreader.
