Clay Walker

Before, I was walking along a fence," says Clay Walker. "Now I feel like I've jumped into the tall grass and I'm the hunter. I've always loved what I do, but now I'm back in love with the music. It's passionate again." Call it the seventh-album itch as Say No More, produced by Byron Gallimore (Faith Hill, Tim McGraw), Blake Mevis, Brent Mason and Walker, follows four platinum and two gold albums, and 11 #1 singles, from one of contemporary country's most successful artists. >> More alt

About Clay Walker

"I haven't ever put this much time or as much heart and soul into an album, not even the first one," continues Texan Walker. "I let it all hang out, gave everything I have to this. There have always been one or two great songs on previous albums but I always seemed to stop short of going all the way for every song. This album was difficult to make because I didn't hide the emotions I went through on every song. It's why I love singing, because I'm actually living the songs while I'm singing them.” I’m actually living the songs while I'm singing them."

That, he says, is what sets Say No More apart. "This album is more about real situations; it's more where people live, less dreamy, nothing slick. There's emotion in every single cut, and that's the most important thing about a record--the vocal has to speak to people."

b. 19 August 1969, Beaumont, Texas, USA. From the same city and similar strand of country music as Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt, the US country singer Clay Walker owes much of his vocal style to George Strait. He was taught guitar by his father at a young age and started to write songs as soon as he knew enough chords. Walker was no overnight success, and toured throughout the USA and Canada, playing bars and small clubs, building a reputation and desperately trying to attract attention. He finally secured a contract with Giant Records in Nashville. His debut single in 1993, "What's It To You", was a US country number 1. The debut album, Clay Walker, did well on the US country charts and the single "Live Until I Die" also topped the charts. Walker enjoyed a string of hit singles throughout the 90s and into the new millennium, including "If I Could Make A Living", "This Woman And This Man", "Then What", "Rumor Has It", and "Chain Of Love'. He relocated to RCA Records following the release of 2001"s Say No More, making his debut for the label two years later with A Few Questions.
