It's all started in England when three guitar students decided to make it big. In 1987, at one of Robert Fripp's popular Guitar Craft Courses, Paul Richards and Hideyo Moriya (USA) met Bert Lams for the first time. All shared same passion for the music, so after completing the course, they joined Robert Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists, through a quite long tour. In 1991, they formed the California Guitar Trio in the city of Los Angeles. Well, their style was impeccable and unique and they often compared with the legendary "The Guitar Trio" (Al DiMeola, JohnMc’Laughlin and Paco de Lucia).

About California Guitar Trio
The young guns had a clear objective; they wanted to create complex compositions with the unique blend of classic or Baroque music. Initially they covered the California surf tunes, along the way they also opened for King Crimson Concerts and other popular musicians including: David Sylvian, Tito Puente, The Flower Kings, John Mc'Laughlin and many more. In 1993, they signed up with the Fripp/Crimson label and issued "The Yamanashi Blues" which was acclaimed as an incredible debut album. This release actually covered various genres like classic, pop, jazz and surf music with extreme quality. This was just a beginning of a great era, as their next release "Invitation," soared the music charts with some dazzling covers such as "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly." Before their last release, the band had gained the huge popularity and to cash this favorable moment they embarked on an exhaustive tour and after three years they issued their best selling album, "Pathways." This album included some all time great compositions by Beethoven, Stan Funicelli and Bach among others.
The band has four live records "An Opening Act - On tour with King Crimson" which was released in 1999, "Rock the West" in 2000, "Monday Night in San Francisco with Tony Levin" in 2000 and last but not the least "Live at the Key Club" with the legendary former King Crimson members Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto in 2001. All was going well for the band, though they went through a short slump period and almost after ten years they were signed with InsideOut label and issued another hugely acclaimed album "CG3+2" with Leving and Mastelotto.
To celebrate the first awesome ten years of good music the band released a compilation album "The First Decade" with some of their favorite and best tracks. In 2004, they released "Whitewater" which was produced by Tony Levin. So, if you love to listen to some great instrumental tunes then California Guitar Trio is your band, catch them performing live.
