"Barenaked Ladies" is a famous Indie Rick band based in Toronto, Canada. Teenage friends Steven Page and Ed Robertson heard the term “Barenaked Ladies” during a Bob Dylan Concert in 1988. Well both found it very humorous. They came with an idea to name their band “Barenaked Ladies." Soon, they added Andy Creeggan on keyboard and his brother bassist Jim Creeggan. They completed their final line up by adding Tyler Stewart on the drums.

In 1991, the band issued their self titled debut album "Yellow Tape." This was their independent release. Initially, it was not taken seriously but by the time it became a huge hit. This album was acclaimed as the only Indie album to go platinum in Canada. With this success, the band earned instant recognition. Soon, the offers from various labels began pouring in. Then, the signed up with Sire Records.
In 1992 under Sire Records they released their major label maiden album, "Gordon." Some of the tracks from their album like, "Enid," "Be My Yoko Ono," and "If I had $1,000,000" became big hits. Soon teenagers and college kids were humming to their tracks. In 1994, the band issued their next album, "Maybe You Should Drive" which was a collaborative effort with producer Ben Mink. Singles like, "Jane" and "Alternative Girlfriend" became huge hit on the radio.
After this the band went through a major changer as Andy Creeggan left the band to pursue higher studies. Andy was replaced by Billy Bragg. Initially Billy covered for Andy but by the time he became a permanent member. With this new line up the band went on to release their next album, "Rock Spectacle." This release played a vital role in the making of the future of the band and with this they could established them as one of the big bands in America. This album was acclaimed Gold.
In July, 1998, the band issued their fifth album, "Stunt." One of the singles, "One Week" from this album became one of the most popular hits to date and threw them into the major league. Instantly, this album debuted at number three on the popular Billboard Charts. This was followed by their next album, "Maroon" after two years. In the same year, the band earned a nomination for the Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal." One of their single "Pinch me" became huge hit.
The band went on to win Juno Awards for Best Group and Best Pop Album. In 2003, they issued "Everything to everyone" which became a reasonable hit.
