About The Band Of Horses

Band of Horses originated after the disintegration of Seattle's favorite band Carrisa's Wierd, an orchestral indie band with melancholic folk music roots. They had a devoted following, for a period of ten years, but could not extend that local worship beyond the Pacific Northwest. After playing music with each other for over a decade, Bridwell and Brooke picked up together again when Bridwell began fleshing out his compositions post-Carissa's. Band of Horses with former drummer Bridwell who took the lead, and Brooke on bass, they have managed to withdraw previous corky memories by exposing an achy streamer of twanging guitars that on impulse swirl into dream pop. Band of Horses shrivelled heavily optimistically, with a sacred reverb that upgrades their more melancholy subjects. Their full-length sub pop debut, Everything All The Time, was released in 2006, which started a stampede.

To achieve musical existence, it is definitely a crafty feat. It happens on its own and nobody knows that better than the Band of Horses from Seattle. "Everything All the Time" is an album varnished splendidly in delicate highs and lows. Band of Horses arises from the residue of that loved and short-lived band. Led by Bridwell's tepid, affectionate vocals, Band of Horses' arboreous, dreamy songs transude with formless tension, yearning and hope. The album is trafficked in a beautiful orchestral pop, whose songs tell unblinking stories of heartbreak and loss, raised with negative humor.

"Everything All the Time" is an album varnished magnificently in delicate highs and lows. On "Monsters," the indisputable ache in Bridwell's delivery, paired with Brooke's passive dusty banjo which points towards earnestness, but nitid texture motion through the darkness. This is the genius in Band of Horses' dynamic: they compose precocious, classic movements within their songs that result in a arrant balance of despair and hope, equanimity and passion, love and fear. A major talent of Band of Horses is to turn despondence into indie majesty, their music is to balance carefully the elicit emotional responses while simultaneously allow space for personal projection.

Band of Horses' alternate coherent and vague songwriting remains life-size, even as their guitars go beyond everyday. The album's centerpiece "The Great Salt Lake" starts with a cacophonic guitar that suggests early R.E.M., lying low to the ground until the chorus takes off. Band of Horses show off a dynamic, pepper of an album with rangier numbers like "The First Song" and the tricky "Wicked Gil" and "Weed Party". Almost every track on Everything contributes to the album's pensive atmosphere, from its first deep guitar chords to its final remorseful strums.

The Band of Horses sound softly progressive and truly refreshful over their 10 sweeping, heart-on-sleeve songs. The band's most winning trait is its exquisite balance of elements-- between somberness and dedication, heroic and ordinary, direct and prolate, artist and listener. All these aspects makes the sounds powerful and more intricate, making Everything All the Time an album that's easy to get lost in and to love.
