About Art Garfunkel

Art Garfunkel was born and raised in Queens New York. It was here, in the sixth grade, that he met his future singing partner Paul Simon. The duo began singing together in high school under the moniker Tom and Jerry and scored moderate success with their single 'Hey Schoolgirl'. It was only after college that the duo came together again and stormed onto the music scene as the folk outfit Simon and Garfunkel, Simon providing the lyrics and Garfunkel sweetening it all with his voice. The duo became legendary but split after the release of their highly lauded album 'Bridge over Troubled Water', citing personal differences and career paths that were becoming increasingly divergent.

Garfunkel headed out on his own and quickly made a name for himself by releasing a few solo albums in the 1970s as well as displaying his acting talents in a few films. In the eighties, Simon and Garfunkel reunited for a memorable concert in Central Park. Due to the overwhelming success of this show, the concert was released as a double LP and also resulted in an international tour.

Garfunkel's next projects included a cantata composed by Jimmy Webb called 'The Animals' Christmas', which he recorded with Amy Grant. The project was three years in the making and took Garfunkel all around the world. During the next few years, he would do a few more films as well as work on a number of musical projects and two more albums. He also found the time to release a book of poetry.

Garfunkel's best solo album till date is often thought to be his latest release, 'Everything Waits to be Noticed.' This is the first album where Garfunkel has seriously stepped into the shoes of a songwriter, though he did write a handful of songs during his collaboration with Paul Simon. The album has been critically acclaimed and has set Garfunkel on the map as a serious songwriter as well. His live shows are a treat to watch- his repertoire of songs are timeless and his voice still remains as magical as always. He often is joined on stage by his son James, who appeared on one of his albums. So rush to get your Art Garfunkel concert tickets today- get to your online ticket vendor and order now!
