About Andras Schiff
A British citizen now, he was born in Hungry on December 21, 1953. A Jewish pianist, Schiff studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and later in London with George Malcolm. Studying piano was not considered to be a career option at that point of time, yet he was determined to make piano his career. Making music from the piano is his life and not the other way round. His success story started very early when he gave an appearance in a local band. He became a star almost instantaneously, taking the place of many other musicians in the local troops.
In 1999 he formed his own chamber orchestra, the "Cappella Andrea Barca" (the name being "Andras Schiff" in Italian). Since then success never left his door and he catched upon every opportunity that came his way. Schiff is one of the best-known living interpreters of J.S. Bach.
His interpretation of J.S.Bach is such that critics have gone so far to claim that it looks like Bach himself has come down to give the piano rendition.
