Lead guitarist Esa Holopainen and drummer Jan Rechberger formed the band Amorphis in Finland in 1990. After they incorporated they needed extra members to make it a complete band so they recruited vocalist/guitarist Tomi Koivusaari and bassist Olli-Pekka Laine.

All four of them are masters in their respective fields. ‘Disment of soul’ was a demo they did to see whether they are working on the right track or not. The demo was so successful that they won a contract and released an EP the same year. It followed a full featured album, which made them instant hits. This started the journey of a great band to reach the heights. They kept on releasing hits after hits & also topped the charts.

What followed was success, fame & name they longed for, yet they never made the mistake to over do the quest to become famous. Fans from around the globe keep cheering at their concerts. After this came another addition to the team, now there were total six members in the band & they released one album which showcased a six member band. Somehow this didn’t continue & one of the members left the team to pursue his solo career. Apart from the hiccups that took place there were many instances which showed that the band may disband anytime but they crossed that line and are still one single band the Amorphis.
