Glasgowian Al Stewart started his career as a guitarist in Tony Blackburn's group the Sabres. With a ambition he soon moved to the London folk club scene. He signed with CBS and in 1967, cut a series of albums consisting of introspective and confessional love songs. His "Love Chronicles" was the only to be released in the U.S. His autobiographical title track based on Stewart’s romantic affairs, attracted attention for his use of "f*cking" in a song with sensible artistic credibility. His 1974's album Past, Present and Future propelled him to the top. Based on his fascination with historical tales it got him his first U.S. chart album. Modern Times and Year of the Cat were unqualified hits, going over a million copies and entered the Top Ten title singles. He recorded and toured sporadically in the late '80s and '90s.

Al Stewart was born on September 5, 1945. He is a Scottish songwriter and musician. He settled in the United States in the mid 1970s.He still lives in California. He is well known for his single "Year of the Cat" and "Time Passages" that still gets substantial radio airplay on music stations. He took the folk-song heritage of singing about real events, and produced songs very contemporary style.
