The 36 Crazyfists are a metal core band originated from Alaska, United States. The band, formed in December 1994 in Anchorage, Alaska, jumping as a Nu-Metal band and converting to a metal core band on their 2nd album. This is a four- piece band, consisting of Brock Lindow on vocals, Steve Holt as guitarist, Mick Whitney as bassist and Thomas Noonan on drums. The band's name comes from a Jackie Chan movie, The 36 Crazy Fists.

The band's original line-up comprised of vocalist Brock Lindow, guitarist Steve Holt, bassist JD Stuart and drummer Thomas Noonan. The band independently released two EPs and one LP before being signed. Boss Buckle, their first EP was released in 1995, followed by Suffer Tree in 1997. Finally they released their LP In the Skin which was in 1997. A demo disc was also recorded in 1999. In order to get established within the industry, the band relocated from Alaska to Portland, Oregon after the death of their original bassist in a car accident. From Oregon they opened for such acts as System of a Down, Primus, Blink-182 and NOFX. They finally befriended metal band Skinlab, who brought their demo into the hands of A&R reps at Roadrunner Records.
The band recorded their huge hit after being signed by Roadrunner Records in 2000, Bitterness the Star which was released on April 4, 2002. Subsequently they began to tour the US with bands including Candiria, God Forbid, Chimaira, Diecast, and Hotwire. After journeying the United States, they turned to Europe to begin the the(repetition) European Road Rage Tour with Killswitch Engage and Five Pointe O. They are currently signed under Roadrunner Records. The band reappeared two years later, on March 16, 2004 with their sophomore attempt A Snow Capped Romance. This album was produced by James Paul Wisner who also produced albums for bands like Dashboard Confessional and As Friends Rust.
36 Crazyfists got into the studio with producer Sal Villanueva in October, 2005 to begin recording. This resulted into their third album Rest Inside the Flames, which was released across Europe on June 12, 2006. The new full length album included Jonah Jenkins of Miltown, and Howard Jones and Tom Gomes of Killswitch Engage. The album is completely more musical and subdued than the previous releases. The album was an achiever in the UK, with Rest Inside the Flames debuting at #71 on the UK album charts, and reaching #2 in the BBC's Rock Album charts.
The band started an all-inclusive UK tour, backed up by Twelve Tribes on April 1, 2007, where they performed at 26 venues across the country. They plan to record a new album during 2007, to be released in fall 2007 or early 2008.
