10cc’s members were friends in grade school. The drummer first found his love of music by listening to his mom's collection of records. The bassist was heavily influenced by his father's love for music. 10cc started playing at Dealer, a college dive bar. Aretha Franklin heavily influenced the early work of the band.

After paying their dues and opening shows for years, 10cc was signed to a record deal. The group's members all had weird jobs while they waited to be noticed. After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, 10cc knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder. The group is so popular they fan clubs in every city.
10cc knew they had finally made it as soon as Margie Parquette started a fan club for the group in 1979. While the club started out small after the organizer heard the band play at a small club in Philadelphia, the club grew leaps and bounds after the group’s first national tour.
