The current head coach Bruce Pearl was inducted in the side of The Tennessee Volunteers in 2005. Before being associated with the Volunteers, Nash was with University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. His four assistant coaches Tony Jones, Steve Forbes, Jason Shay and Ken Johnson are accredited with supporting Bruce who got the Volunteers into the NCAA tournament three years consecutively.
The Volunteers so far have a record of 15 NCAA tournament appearances with a record of 11-16. Due to their impressive performance, they have also been invited to the National Invitation Tournament 11 times. The Tennessee Volunteers have nine Southeastern Conference (SEC) titles under their belt. They have won these championships in 1942, 1945, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1999, 2000, and 2008.
Some of the most notable players of the NBA (National Basketball Association) that started off their careers as the Volunteers are Allan Houston, Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld, Dale Ellis, Tony White, Ron Slay, and Larry Robinson.
