Since 1997, this game is being held at the 30,000-seat Bronco Stadium which lies on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. The most current matchups featured by the game are representatives from the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Western Athletic Conference. Both the teams have typically been the conference champions.

The December 2004 game had its name changed to the MPC Computers Bowl, MPC Computers was the sponsor for that year. Briefly the game was not sponsored by anyone in the January 2004 game. The game was given its earlier name Humanitarian Bowl in April 2007 and on May 2007, the game was having a new sponsor that resulted in naming the game as the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl. It has been the longest running cold weather bowl game till date.
