In modern times, the College's landmark Wren Building stands at at the western head of Duke of Gloucester Street opposite the reconstructed Capitol of Colonial Williamsburg. Their official uniform colors are green, gold and silver. The William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team represents The College of William & Mary in NCAA Division I competition, and the school's team competes in the Colonial Athletic Association and play their home games in the 11,300 capacity Kaplan Arena, and the arena opened in 1971. William & Mary is one of 32 teams in D-I history to have never participated in the NCAA Tournament. The closest effort by the Tribe to reach it is when they lost the 2008 CAA Tournament Final, 68-59, to George Mason University.

The only postseason playoff berth by the men’s team was the 1983 National Invitation Tournament where William & Mary lost the opening game to the Virginia Tech Hokies by a score of 85-79.
