he UCLA Bruins are the sports teams for University of California, Los Angeles, and their official uniform colors are true blue and gold. They are nicknamed Bruins, their mascot is Joe & Josephine Bruin, and their athletics director is Dan Guerrero. Their home basketball games are played at the 12,829 capacity Pauley Pavilion, located in University of California, Los Angeles. The UCLA Bruins men's basketball program is established in 1920 and owns a record 11 NCAA championships.

It is coached by John Wooden and won 10 titles in 12 seasons from 1964 to 1975, including 7 straight from 1967 to 1973. A record 4 times, in 1964, 1967, 1972, and 1973, UCLA went undefeated. In 1995 Coach Jim Harrick returned the program to the spotlight, leading the team to another NCAA title, and the current coach Ben Howland is also focusing on restoring Bruin Basketball to national prominence, having led UCLA to their third consecutive final four appearance since 2006.
They still find ways to sneak into the top 10 and have talented players coming in each year, although they are no longer regarded as a dominating powerhouse like it was during the Wooden era. Between 2005 and 2007, UCLA has been to three consecutive Final Fours, while their players have received numerous awards, most notably Arron Afflalo, a 2007 First-Team All American, and Kevin Love, the 2008 Pac-10 Player of the Year.
