Richmond does not have any major league professional sports teams although there are several minor league teams. The Richmond Coliseum which holds 13,000 plus is home to many sporting events, concerts, festivals, and trade show. It is also home to the Richmond Renegades of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Other venues in the city include the Robins Center where the University of Richmond Spiders basketball teams plays and The Stuart C. Siegel Center which is another multipurpose arena on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University.
The world’s first cigarette-rolling machine and world’s first successful electric street car system were created in Richmond. Due to the U.S Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal Reserve Bank located in Richmond the city’s economy has been driven by law and finance.
