Austin is the largest city in the United States without a franchise in the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, or the National Hockey League. Many residents of the city follow the University of Texas Longhorns sports programs. The city is known for its many outdoor activities to include; rock-climbers, divers, snorkelers, mountain bikers, and cyclists. Cycling is very popular because of the environmental awareness and the popularity of Lance Armstrong who lives in a surrounding suburb.
Austin is known for its strong theater culture with live entertainment to be found around the city. The Paramount Theatre opened in downtown Austin in 1915 contributes not only to the theatre culture but it is film culture. The theatre shows a variety of classic films throughout the summer. The summer feature program is a double feature program that pairs vintage cartoons with new films. The season always ends with Gone with the Wind. The theatre also hosts regional premieres.
Tourists that visit Austin come for the nightlife but there are also many other attractions to see while visiting there. These attractions include the Texas Memorial Museum, the Blanton Museum of Art, the galleries at the Harry Ransom Center, and the Bob Bullock Texas State history Museum. The state capitol is also a major tourist attraction.
