Kanye and Miley Trying to Take Down Radiohead and Other Celebrity Bickering

While performers from decades past are ready to bury their grudges, performers in the now seem to be picking fights left and right. Yes, Fleetwood Mac seems to have it all together for a reunion tour and Leonard Cohen is coming to the U.S. to perform after ignoring the country for 15 years (to be fair, we ignored him first). Meanwhile the celebrity snub list is growing with offenders as young as Miley Cyrus and as old as Madonna.

After the Grammy’s, it mysteriously got out that Thom Yorke of Radiohead was causing trouble. Yes, Radiohead, the group that is so hateful that they basically give music away to fans for free, those bastards. Well, the story goes that Yorke denied requests for an audience by teen queen Miley Cyrus (it some how would feel more appropriate to say her alter-ego Hannah Montana here) and hip hop queen bee Kanye West.

Miley reportedly said she would ruin Radiohead’s career and Kanye was so distraught by the diss that he remained seated during Radiohead’s performance at the award show. Kanye also said he was upset that one of the few groups he felt rivaled his own creativity would not want to meet him. (Note to reader: read in a slow confused internal voice) Yes, these two will cause because the same people who like listening to Radiohead also listen to the Disney Channel and the local Top-40 station…right?

About a month later in Long Island Madonna strolls into Britney Spears’ Circus taking care to draw as much attention as possible and then leaves before the encore. Did Madonna really just want to create a stir or is there some other reason behind the quick exit (depends incident/sports star marriage to destroy)? The reality is that nobody will really ever know since any information coming from either camp is bound to be bloated with PR niceties. Perhaps we need to bring in Bono and U2 to keep the peace.

It is nice to see that while the recession might be inhibiting our ability to go out and party, it has done nothing to inhibit celebrities from creating high school drama for the masses to drool over. If this is what celebrity life under the Obama administration will be like then celeb rags like Us Weekly, People, and In Touch Weekly will not be requesting earmarks for a bailout.
