Beyonce Throws Down on the Jackson Family and the Fight is on

Beyonce admits that the music business has become one with her family. She and her younger sister, Solange, are recording artists, her mother, Tina, designed her costumes while she was with Destiny’s Child, and her father, Matthew Knowles, has become the manager for every business venture his daughters pursue. She says they are like the Jacksons, but her family did not use her to get out of the ghetto.

Yes, Beyonce says that her family grew up in the upper crust of society, complete with private school and a Jaguar. The Jackson’s grew up in the poverty-ravaged working class city of Gary, Indiana. Let’s put it this way. Imagine everything bad associated with the South Side or the West Side of Chicago and multiply it by ten. That has pretty much been the composite experience of Gary- murder, mayhem, and abject poverty.

These comments, made in the latest issue of Elle Magazine, have, alone (I have not read the article or the context in which they are truly presented), inspired a response from Janet Jackson that could only be described as a threatdown by Stephen Colbert.

A confrontation has been promised by Janet at some point in time back stage during Beyonce’s tour. Will this end in a wet-dream inducing cat fight? I doubt it.

I too find the comments a little harsh hearing them in gossipy snippets, but I cannot deny that Joe Jackson was infamously a control freak who scarred Michael Jackson for life (the man named his child Blanket, never did I imagine blanket would become a proper noun) and La Toya Jackson has morphed into a Michael look alike as she continues to surgically alter her body to appeal to the masses.

Still in this sensitive time is it wise for a mega-rich R&B diva to make comments that concern economic situations? No, they are not advised when the economy is rolling. If anything these comments are sure to inspire a tale of the Anglicization of a market that is popularly thought to appeal to the African-American market. I hope some sort of formal apology is issued before this becomes a truly ugly issue.

What is the only other subject that is able to inspire more controversy than racial and socio-economic issues? If you said the upsets in this year’s NFL Playoffs, you are incorrect. The answer is love and the most intense situation is when two women are fighting over the same man.

Well, apparently Alexandra Burke really wanted to meet Chris Brown. Burke just won X-Factor, the original British American Idol. Well, Burke was going to bring her family backstage after Chris Brown’s show at the O2 in London, when she was denied.

Allegedly, Rihanna learned of her crush and decimated Burke’s dream of meeting or “meeting” Brown and got her off the list for the after party. Rihanna is an up and coming star and Burke has just won a record contract, so this could be the kind of femme feud that could last for a decade. It will be entertaining if the reports are true and will inspire several gossip cover puns and E! segments.
