Now I admit I am an anglophile. Everything from the British Isles seems better to me. I like the comedies, the movies, and the music almost immediately upon hearing it is from England. I think Guy Ritchie deserves half of Madonna’s fortune for letting her don an atrocious I do not know why I have such a cynicism about American everything (except sports, our football is the only football as far as I am concerned), but I do.
As a self-proclaimed turncoat I am very excited to hear the news that Morrissey has just announced a 2009 tour. I am saddened to find out that only four of those dates are in the United States. Now, this is the early itinerary and tours have a habit to add shows on when things are going well, so maybe enough fans of British pop music or of the ‘80s will come out to encourage Morrissey to tour more of the States.
He is promoting his 10th solo album, Years of Refusal, and hopefully he cannot refuse the invitation to visit more of the country than just Florida and Virginia. Whether he brings that nasally baritone voice out of hurricane country is up to him and the record company, but hopefully they realize that there are enough people over hear to make it worth their while.
