I know recycling is a major movement to save the environment, but I did not know that the music industry was so serious about the cause. How else could you explain the recent rash of concerts announced for the remainder of this year and the beginning of next year?
Tina Turner, AC/DC, Elton John, and Billy Joel are making the rounds and fans are excited to see them. These artists have seemed to age like fine wine or classic cars. I never thought I’d see AC/DC back in concert, or with another number one album, but here they are.
The latest news is the return of the piano super duo Elton John and Billy Joel. Elton John has been busy in Las Vegas and Billy Joel has just finished his world tour. I suspect he is trying to make people forget “We Didn’t Start the Fire” or his divorce from Christine Brinkley. Those are two things fans of the Piano Man have to find difficult to justify. Elton John has the respect of the music world, but probably needed to get out of Las Vegas before he became one with the stale tourists to so him in a nice shiny jacket.
If anything, this reinstatement of the year 1975 has shown how much our parents have not resisted growing up. They are going to buy tickets to see a 68-year-old woman vigorously shake her hips and a grown man in a private school uniform with short shorts not scene since the ‘80s in the NBA.
