Will the Detroit Red Wings miss the postseason for the first time since 1990 (the lockout season does not count)?

Will Sidney Crosby hold off Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis (How are the Lightning not in the Stanley Cup playoffs?) and win the Art Ross Trophy? Does he win the Hart Memorial Trophy too?

These are just some of many questions being asked by fans trying to focus on something other than the playoff picture, especially by those looking for solace or a distraction as their team’s hopes of playing beyond the regular season dwindle.

After the Stanley Cup playoffs begin, fans will start looking to see which goaltender has the hottest glove hand. They will also be wondering if a team that thrived early on, the Chicago Blackhawks, can hold on and reach the championship series, or if a last season’s winners, the Los Angeles Kings, can turn it on in time to give the Staples Center its second non-Lakers or Sparks banner to hang from the rafters.
